Poles Training

£50 - £80

All our poles sessions take place on the beautiful Waseley Hills on weekends from 9am, based on availability.

Get confident using poles to help you move more efficiently, while avoiding common mistakes that can lead to annoyance for your fellow trail users or injury for yourself.

We offer two poles-specific sessions, which can be done 1:1 or in a small group with numbers capped at 5 so that everyone gets the maximum individual coaching and has a chance to ask any questions they might have.

Intro to poles - £50

  • 60-90minute introduction to running poles, meeting at the Waseley Visitor Centre/Cafe

  • Session includes individualised coaching from properly fitting poles to your body and how to hold them, and takes you through the main techniques for running and walking on different gradients for maximum efficiency

  • The workshop ends with a short (c.5km) run around the Waseley Hills where you will get to put your new skills into practice on a variety of surfaces and types of trail

  • If you do not own a set of running poles, we have a small number of Harrier z-poles you can use for the workshop

  • Additional attendees can be added for £20pp for small groups of up to 5

Running poles masterclass - £80

  • An intensive crash course of 3-4hours, perfect for those preparing for ultra distance, multi-day or Alpine events

  • If you do not own a set of running poles, we have a small number of Harrier z-poles you can use for the workshop. For those who do have their own poles, we recommend bringing them along to the workshop along with the pack/belt/quiver you intend to use them with for your event

  • Meeting at the Visitor Centre at Waseley Hills, this course will teach you proper technique for running and hiking uphill, downhill and on an even gradient with individualised coaching to make sure you are moving as efficiently as possible

  • Once we have covered the basics, the course will then take you out on a stunning 2-3 hour trail run across the Waseley and Clent Hills to really get the hang of using your poles on different kinds of surface and gradient, as well as a chance to practice fuelling while using poles, getting them out and stashing them efficiently, as well as giving you a chance to ask any questions you might have while having some serious fun

  • Additional attendees can be added for £25pp up to a small group of 5
